Silas deane sent messages wrtten in invisible ink.what ways do modern spies have of communicating ?
SOCIAL STUDIES
The most extensive form of communication among spies are predetermined coded radio frequencies. A spy is given by his handler 20 different radio frequencies. He also has been previously given code transfer words. Such as the word"love" would mean "location" etc. Then at a predetermined time, he transmits one or two code words on a certain frequency, and switches to a predetermined frequency for the next two words, and on and on, until the message is received. Frequently a piece of literature is used, each end of the communication has the same printing. A predetermined group of numbers are used, to disguise page, paragraph and word. Then the actual words are transmitted, by using only numbers.

Espionage War
In the early 17th century many spies for both the America and Britain and wrote in invisible ink and code. You know our most famous president, George Washington? Well he was a spy for the British during French and Indian War, sending messages to his commanders about movement of the enemy forces. Thats not all, George sent a message in code to his dentist Dr. Baker demanding a new pair of pincers, though the letter was captured by the British. It shows how much George wanted his pincers , risking his whereabouts and writing in invisible ink. Other than Washington Benjamin Franklin, John Andre, Lafayette de Marquis, and the notorious traitor Benedict Arnold. But hold on, he was not alone he corresponded with John Andre in such a sneaky way that nobody discovered that the letters intercepted were in code. They pretended to be merchants using a key of numbers that corresponded to words in Blackstone's Commentaries on the Laws of England and or Nathan Bailey's Dictionary. However, he deliberately did not disguise some some words because he wanted to make it seem as it was normal business transactions.
Do you how people knew how to read the letter if it was in invisible ink? The letters themselves had written on top letters like “A” which stood for acid and “F” for fire. If the letter was not reacting to acid or fire it the invisible ink may have been smeared because of a dropped liquid of some sort or in special cases the letter was BLANK. British officer, John Andre told British spies to write using “A” and “F” telling if the letters were fire or acid.
Have you heard the saying “one if by land, and two if by see”? The saying was actually a code that was used by the well-known Paul Revere asking his friend if the British were coming and he told him to light one lantern if British were coming by land two if meant coming by sea. The system of codes was not hard as long as you had a cipher.
Thanks to Silas Deane, the Founding Father of heat-developing invisible ink helped make our country into what it is today. The Revolutionary War greatly relied on espionage. If not for Silas Deane, maybe America would not be in existence.
